Saying Goodbye

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear about Scruffy. There are not a lot of things harder than losing a precious pet. I love the critters who own me at present, but the ones who have crossed the bridge are always in the corner of my mind.

i knew the second i saw your title that i should get a tissue ready. i'm such a softie--i tend to cry more about pets than people, which is admittedly a bit twisted. my point is that i'm so very sorry for your loss.

Thank you Grace, I cried also, more than once. My little cat was 15 years old, but it is still hard to let go.

Linda, I just read your post. I'm so sorry about you losing your kitty. I can imagine how hard this is for you. Fifteen years is a long time. Yet, when they're gone, it doesn't seem like it was long enough.

Oh, Linda! I'm so very sorry that you lost your sweet Scruffy! These precious little ones DO become such important members of our families, and I know how much it hurts when we have to say goodbye. I hope your heart is filled with wonderful memories that make you smile, in spite of the sadness you feel.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know you will miss Scruffy.

You know that old saw about a door opening when another closes? Well, Scruffy has earned her reward, and a stray turned up at our place who might get to stay. I put an ad in the paper and nobody claimed Inky.

Remember when we knew in another forum that a mystery bathroom belonged to you because someone recognized your kitty?

Thanks Nell

I hope you receive the same joy from your found stray as Scruffy brought to us.

LOL! Yes, that was my Mask Cat who is still with me. He likes to drink out of the bathroom faucet :)

I'm so sorry about Scruffy. I know how sad you must be. My Maggie was with me for 15 yrs. They always say that pets give us unconditional love. There will be a hole in your heart and home for sometime,so think of it this way...You gave this cat a wonderful home, you loved Scruffy unconditionally, and hopefully there are pets in Heaven and you'll see Scruffy again.I know that's a simplistic view, but it's what I believe.

Thanks Balisha, it seems odd not to see her pop up in the morning when I open a can of food. She was always the first to come running, my Mask Cat misses her terribly. He has taken to sleeping in "her spot" under my bed.
