Pot to Plate

One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides. ~W.E. Johns

Black Seeded Simpson lettuce, green onion and Violas

We had salad for lunch today, harvested fresh from my garden. The salad was dressed with a Warm Vinaigrette borrowed from Peter over at Kalofagas.ca The lettuce seed was a gift from my daughter Racquel, it was delish!

Wasn't the salad vinaigrette just delish? Your basket with edible flowers is gorgeous!

Thanks for the shout out.

Thank you Peter. Ever since you posted that vinaigrette I have wanted to make it, and even bookmarked it :) I have half left but that is okay cause I have more lettuce to pick. The flowers added 'eye candy', but they were otherwise pretty tasteless .. LOL

Harvest time, YEA!!! Although it's just a little harvesting, the anticipation of goodies to come are mouthwatering!! Kudos!

The peonies take that lettuce to "oh goodness, don't you just love spring" to "OMG that's incredibly fabulous"

Wait a minute!! You got lettuce out of your garden in Ohio already!!? WOW. You are truly lucky!

OhioMom said...

Oh yeah Lucy, and I am waiting on those zucchinis to start producing .. they are doing very well, lots of new growth.

Thanks Lori :)

Yeah Giz, they do add some pizazz to the dish :)

Elenka, I sowed the lettuce seed on St. Pat's Day. We have had a very mild Spring, but then lettuce and spinach are cold weather crops :)

Lovely salad! I sure envy you. I bet that fresh lettuce was wonderful. It's always great to eat what you've grown, and the first harvest is extra special.

Tasty and pretty, too. I'd have had to pick out the violas and float them in a bowl of water to enjoy on and on, LOL.

Thanks for the tip Nell, I will remember that for next time :)

That's probably my favorite thing; eating things that were just picked!

It just looks so healthy and yummy!

What a lovely blog! We're enjoying our home-grown lettuce, too. And our current crop of artichokes. It looks like you've got some gorgeous flowers growing. Very nice!

Love your picture...pretty soon I'll be able to pick my own herbs as well. By the way, thank you for visiting my site.

OhioMom said...

Hi Lynn .. Thank you, with warmer weather arriving here, the lettuce will soon be a memory, which is why I will sow some later when the temps cool off.

Thanks Julianna .. my herbs are coming along nicely, the basil is a little slow but that is okay, lots of time :)
