Sorbet is a frozen dessert made with sweetened water and flavored with juice or pureed fruit; in finer restaurants it is served between courses as a palate refresher.
What better dessert during the hot and humid days of summer than a fruity sorbet, and the best part is this is a treat low in fat and calories. For a look at some more cool summer sorbets, stop by and visit with Ben and Sarah at Heights Eats.
Peach Sorbet
Recipe:
Place metal mixing bowl in freezer to chill
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 cups pureed peaches
Scant Tbsp. lemon juice
Combine sugar and water in small saucepan, bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and chill completely. Add pureed peaches and lemon juice, blend well. Pour into pre-chilled mixing bowl, cover with plastic wrap and set in freezer. Stir occasionally, I stirred it about every 30 minutes for the first two hours.

Looks amazingly good & a great refreshing treat! Here in NY the humidity is so high today, it's a killer... Where's my scoop???
LOL ... it is wickedly humid here today too!
I will tell you like I tell DD #1 ... if you all lived closer we could share in all these wonderful meals/desserts.
The food critic loved it ....
Could you just imagine the feasts!!!
LOL ... we probably would be plump little cooks ... which is why I am trying to eat healthy, gotta shed this weight I have picked up, which means lighter meals and desserts.
How delightful for the summer months - I just adore peaches & what a fabulous way of using them.
Thanks ... and thanks for stopping by
Ooooh, sorbet! I the peach sounds delish! I've only made raspberry (with a little Grande Mariner thrown in)...love it!
Kathy raspberry and Grande Mariner sounds yummy!
Today is exactly one of those hot and humid days where I could kill for some of that sorbet. On days like today even the kitchen looks like a skull and crossbones to me.
LOL Giz ... my sentiments exactly. We finally got a cool front, but temps are expected to climb the next few days.
Couldn't have used a better fruit. Great recipe, and just when I was feeling bad about not having an ice cream maker.
CFT
The trick is to stir it every once-in-a-while as it will start freezing around the edges first.
Once it is firm (although sorbet is more mushy than ice cream) pack it in a container with a tight lid.
....and your good to go :)
What a fabulous peach recipe it looks beautiful.
Thanks Jeena, it is my attempt at a healthier diet...who says we can't have sweets without fat ?
Now come winter ...
Mmmm, so refreshing looking, it would be great to have right now with this humid air.
Hi Marie
We got a little break today, but headed back in the high temps/humidity tomorrow ... sigh.
I shouldn't complain, my little garden is loving the heat and rains we have had :)
no icecream maker? i gotta try this.
Nope Bee, no machine. The same goes for ice cream, it takes a little longer and stirring every so often, but it is worth the effort :)
Ooh yummy! I love, love, love sorbet! Great recipe as usual Mom!
Good, when you get here and eat your veggies, you can have this for dessert :)
Hmmmm....we're thinking the same again. I made Kiwi Sorbet a few days ago...LOL!!
Peach Sorbet sounds wonderful, but I'll wait the Michigan Peaches to come in!
LOL ... good cooks cook alike ?
