Early morning walks...

Earth laughs in flowers ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our early morning walks have been filled with the fragrance of Lilacs, this morning I took my camera along to capture the beauty of Spring in my neighborhood. Enjoy!

I haven't cooked/baked anything of note recently, with almost two years of recipes posted on my blog, I am taking a break from the stove. Look for updates on my rooftop garden and local foods. Ramps have arrived at the farmers markets, check out The Cage Free Tomato for two yummy recipes.

Allium tricoccum, commonly known as ramps, spring onion, ramson, wild leek, or ail des bois (French), is a member of the onion family (Alliaceae). Found in groups with broad, smooth, light green leaves, often with deep purple or burgundy tints on the lower stems and a scallion-like bulb strongly rooted just beneath the surface of the soil. Both the white lower leaf stalks and the broad green leaves are edible ~ Wiki

Claudia ... when lilacs are just a memory here, you will be enjoying them :)

Grace .. I have to stop at each lilac bush, drives DH crazy ... LOL

Thanks Elenka .. I thought the pics turned out pretty good with my little HP photosmart :)

The photos are lovely. I've been sorely tempted to plant a lilac bush. I wonder if it's deer resistant? My azaleas are filled with a profusion of pink & white flowers and my two lavender bushes are a riot of deep purple & dark pink. This is a wonderful time of the year.

Love the flowers pictures...

Hi Cynthia .. good to hear from you :)

Sue .. supposedly lilacs are deer resistant, but I imagine it depends on their food source. If they get hungry enough they will eat just about anything .. no ?

Thanks Juliana :)

Oh, I love those lilacs! A million years ago when hubby and I were dating, he used to bring me lilacs from his yard. *sigh*

I have a real case of lilac envy. Also, our poppy season is waaaayyy too short!

Great pictures. My DH has a little HP too, and it takes much better pictures than my cameras do. I may have to 'borrow' his camera.....

Your photos are wonderful. We don't mind if you take time off from the kitchen, if you share pictures like these.

Paula .. I actually watch for the lilacs to bloom, and take every opportunity to stop and "smell the flowers" :)

Janie .. for me lilac season is too short, I wish they bloomed all summer. I love my little camera :)

LOL Balisha .. the food critic is none to happy, but I will make sure he is fed :)

I had to visit your lilacs again. I'm getting impatient for mine and decided I needed a lilac fix. Thanks.
