To Market, to market....

....to buy a plum bun. Home again, home again, market is done.

Well I didn't buy a plum bun at the Coit Road Farmers Market today, but I did manage to get some special goodies. Taking center stage is......

Ohio-Grown Strawberries!
(Click on Pic for some creative strawberry treats)

..... another once-a-year favorite

Garlic Scapes

....which I will use with

Frances's farm-fresh eggs in this Frittata

I coudn't resist picking up some additional mater plants while at the market, these Husky Red Tomatoes will make a nice contribution to our table this summer.

Until later....

What a clever way to present these beautiful strawberry recipes and the blogs that feature them. Thanks, so much. This was fun. Now I'm hungry.

Lovely bounty you've got there.

I'm not not sure I'll have a bounty from the garden this year, the rain clouds seem to be hovering over the east coast w/o any let up!

those are far and away the most evenly-colored strawberries i've ever seen, and what a lovely color it is! i'm used to seeing some super dark red, some still white, some MOLDY--our selection isn't so great. :)

Balisha .. that was my one and only foodie event last year, and the recipes on there are fantastic aren't they ?

Lucy .. that is what I am hearing from my NE friends, we have been blessed with some pretty good weather this year, just enough sun and rain .. knock on wood!

Grace .. those strawberries you are talking about are in the chain grocers, shipped from far away and "probably" picked green and then forced into color, like the apples ... no thanks!! These are sooooo sweet, no sugar needed .. I just washed and nibbled all night long :)

Ugh, that chocolate cake with strawberry custard caught my eye immediately on your strawberry link, but it's ingredient amounts are from another planet or something ! Too bad...

Nothing makes you happier than seasonal goodies. Just look at those scapes. You're motivating me to go to the farmer's market.

Racquel I loved having my grandsons and SIL here, wish they could have stayed longer .. when you coming up?

Hi Elenka .. lots of goodies for my first and only food event :)

Giz .. by all means take advantage of the freshness of local foods while these markets are open, don't forget to put away some for a winter day :)

Lots of delicious recipes! I definitely will do something with the scapes. Love the frittata idea. And thanks for all those strawberry recipes. They're in season here also - and it is so much fun. They do tend to disappear before I get a chance to bake with them - and I am as guilty as any of taking bowlfuls and happily muching on them!

Thanks Juliana :)

Claudia ... I love garlic scapes too and the strawberries were just so good, I ate them all up without making a single dessert :)
