Sunday Supper

Reading food blogs is so inspirational, recently some of my favorite bloggers posted dishes that I knew I had to cook. Lucy. of Sweets, Savories, Etc. Sticky Chicken has graced our table several times. The food critic is addicted to this chicken. Paula over at It's All Gouda posted a Scottish Savory Oat Stuffing that intrigued me and appealed to my Scots-Irish roots. Marie, the Proud Italian Cook and Grace of A Southern Grace both posted roasted, glazed Acorn squash. I couldn't decide which squash dish to make because they both sounded so good, so I made both. Supper was finished off with rosemary & thyme roasted root vegetables and fried okra.

I prepped the chicken for Lucy's sticky chicken, stuffed it with Paula's oat stuffing and cooked it at the high heat. The only complaint I heard was there was not enough stuffing, next time I will double the recipe. This stuffing is a great alternative to the standard bread stuffing. The glazed and roasted acorn squashes were absolutely divine, I can't pick between the two because I loved them both. Please click on their blogs for these wonderful recipes.

Thank you ladies for a wonderful Sunday Supper!

Ooooh, look at you!!! What a great surprise for me to see that you made the stuffing! Your menu sounds sooo good to me. I remember Marie's and Grace's squash recipes and your rendition of each of them makes me want to crawl through the screen. I'll have to go visit Lucy's site and check out the chicken recipe. I'm just so tickled that you tried the stuffing!

Everything looks beyond wonderful! I've got some butternut squash that would be perfect with either of those glazes. I, too, was intrigued by the oatmeal stuffing & wanted to try it. I'm still waiting for whole chickens to go one sale, but as soon as they do, I intend to try the sticky chicken recipe.

You outdid yourself. I wish I could have had a taste of everything.

Theresa .. don't you just love the inspiration, not to mention tasty dishes, we get to try from foodies?

Lucy .. I prepped the chicken like from your sticky chicken, and then roasted it at a higher heat. It was every bit as good :)

Darius .. I feel the same way after visiting your blog :)

Maryann .. me too, but then I love all winter squashes.

Paula .. not only did I love this oat stuffing, but I will be stuffing my turkey with it for Thanksgiving. The food critic likes his cornbread dressing cooked separately, so the bird is mine :)

Thanks Racquel .. did you make those taters for my grandson yet ?

Sue .. you have to try these glazes, they are wonderfully good.

TT .. thank you :)

Hi Lori

...both squashes were good, and the sticky chicken is not as gooey as the cake :)
