Pear Salad

We love the addition of fruits to our salads and since pears are available now I wanted to use them in a salad. The food critic really liked this salad dressing, I stored it in a glass jar to use for the rest of this week.

Holler of Tinned Tomatoes is hosting No Croutons Required - The Fruit Edition this month. This is my entry.

Pear Salad

Fresh baby salad greens
Pears, cored and sliced (skin on)
Parmesan cheese, shaved
Chopped Walnuts
Lemon juice

Sprinkle pears with a small amount of lemon juice and set aside. Arrange salad greens on plate/bowl. Arrange pears over top. Sprinkle with some chopped walnuts and shaved Parmesan cheese. Drizzle salad dressing over top.

Maple Salad Dressing

1/4 cup Ohio Pure Maple Syrup, warmed
1 1/2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
Salt & Pepper, to taste

Whisk maple syrup, cider vinegar, olive oil and salt together and drizzle over salad. Season liberally with freshly ground pepper.

I love pears in salad with nuts, a sharp tasting cheese, and drizzled with vinaigrette. I think it's my favorite way to eat pears. The dressing sound like something my husband might even like too. I have no doubts about me liking it. It looks yummy!

I'm usually not big on fruit in salads but this could change my mind! Looks fabulous!

I've never been a big fan of Rachel Ray but this dressing does look like a good one. Anything maple syrup can't be bad. Pears with maple syrup - well, say no more - it's a perfect combination and nice entry to Holler's roundup.

Candy we put any fruit in our salads ... thanks for stopping by, love your blog.

Giz, I was out of honey and had maple syrup and just was googling for a dressing and came across this one, it really is good.

Thanks Darius, but there is no corn in this salad :)

Oh yeah. Nice one. I love anything pear.

I would love this, but my food taster would not allow it at the table with that dressing. He cannot abide Maple anything, not even the smell.

I have become a closet maple eater.

I need for you to post some good DIET food! I am tired of my diet, and want something that is healthy, and not fattenin'.

OMom makes these delicious things and of course, never gains an ounce. Not fair! LOL

Thanks LR :)

Salad & fruit is the bestest diet food :) Substitute the dressing on this salad for a low-fat creamy style, this would go well with french dressing and/or ranch.

No Maple ? Oh my ... how about honey ? Honey would work just as well.

I am "trying" to eat healthier, but fall/winter is coming and my oven is calling out to me :)

looks yummy, never had pears in my salad before, but i love putting new "stuff" in my salad!

Hi Priscilla

Fruit in salad is the bomb, add some red onion to it also :)

Pear Salad when I was a child, ever so long ago, was canned pear halves on a bed of lettuce, shredded cheese and a dressing of mayo. I still love it.

I made pearsauce this morning, like applesauce; just boil pears with a bit of water until they fall apart and have a rosy color. Add a bit of spices, including ginger. Serve very cold.

Hi Nell

So good to see you. Many moons ago when I was a child, we had canned pear halves on a bed of lettuce with a dollop of cottage cheese in the center drizzed with a touch of honey and chopped nuts.

Pear sauce sounds yummy, and now that pears are in season I may have to try some.
